Leg extension machines

Once your home gym has the basics - barbell, plates, rack, and bench - it may be time to start looking into specialty machines that isolate certain muscle groups. Typically, most specialty machines take up a lot of space or come with a high price tag. If you have the tools, doing a DIY might be a pretty decent option. Here is my list of favorite DIY leg extension machines.

1. @d2ofitness - simple platform with a hinge and side mounted weights

2. @ozzyliftz - utilizing an ankle strap connected the lat tower and a roller to help prop up the knee

3. @mattpendergraph - a Rogue utility bench and a jammer arm with leg rollers attached

4. @homegym.germany - a 2x4 with some dowels and foam to connected to the lat tower

5. Steve Lang on Youtube - notorious for over engineering, this leg extension is plate loadable and connected to the tower

6. @stefan.ostling - this unique design is connected to a flywheel and has a pin for loading plates

7. @kaizendiygym - small footprint, single leg, plate loaded option, I have a tutorial for this on Youtube

8. @designbuildlift - made a bench that attaches to the side of his power rack, is able to be plate loaded, and also works with bands

9. @homegymhangout - combined a hip thrust bench, jammer arm, safety spotter arm and connected it to a Rogue rhino.

10. @mr._s._hall - created a dedicated chair that allows isolation of each leg
